Mrs. Mullen's Bio
Deanna Mullen was raised in Ute, IA. She attended Wayne State College and received a Business Administration degree. She moved to Omaha and spent the next 15 years working at Richman Gordman, Dillards, and West Telemarketing. She met her husband, Brian, in Omaha. Brian was in the Air Force and they spent the next 20 years moving around with the Air Force. Their journey took them to Mildenhall, England with Mildenhall & Lakenheath AFB, Cabot, AR, with Little Rock AFB, Wichita Falls, TX, with Sheppard AFB, and Derby, KS with McConnell AFB.
While stationed at Little Rock AFB, Deanna received her education degree from Arkansas State University. She graduated with an emphasis on Math and Science. She then student taught at Cabot Middle School South. She then was hired to teach 5th and 6th grade math. She attended Space Camp at Huntsville, AL, while at Cabot Middle School. Then Brian was stationed at Sheppard AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. Deanna taught a self-contained 6th grade class at Scotland Park Elementary. She led the Student Council while at Scotland Park. While at Scotland Park, she had access to a state of the art science lab. Next Brian achieved a promotion to Chief Master Sergeant and was stationed at McConnell AFB. Deanna obtained a teaching position with the Derby School district and taught a self-contained 5th grade class at Wineteer Elementary for the past 5 years. While at Wineteer Elementary, she was trained on the Project Lead the Way science curriculum and taught robotics to all 5th grade students. She was also the math teacher leader for Wineteer. As the math teacher leader, she attended the Kansas Association for math teachers and had the privilege to meet Greg Tang, a master in thinking more independently and creatively about math. Deanna loves to teach using Kagan strategies and loves math and science.
Deanna and Brian have one son, Patrick. Patrick will be attending Metro Tech in the fall. They made the decision to move back to Omaha to be closer to family. They are thrilled to be back home!
