A NOTE FROM Mrs. Jacobs

Welcome to 2020-21!

July 2020

Dear Wilson Families,

 Wow! What a spring and summer.  One to remember. Welcome back to ALL Wilson Focus students and families. The summer break is almost over and the excitement for the 2020-21 school year is BUILDING fast!  We have many safety precautions in place for this year.

I am proud and grateful to serve the students, staff, and families of the Wilson Focus School community.  Although this year will look different, we are eager to see your children and continue to support them emotionally and academically.  As we work to reopen schools during a pandemic, know the health and safety of the students and staff of Wilson Focus School remains our top priority of our district.  We have worked together to develop a plan with adjustments made to increase social distancing practices and implement health measures, referring to guidance provided by the Omaha Public Schools and local and national health experts. I am looking forward to our safe journey together as we embark on this school year.

 This year we are having a building wide theme;

THE ROAD TO SUCCESS IS ALWAYS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Wilson Focus: BUILDING LEADERS, LEARNERS, AND BRIGHTER FUTURES!

.

This theme fits in perfectly with our focus on Leadership, Technology, and Communication. As a staff, we will break ground on improving our leadership skills along with our students.

The aim of U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS) is to inspire schools, districts and Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs) to strive for 21st century excellence, by highlighting promising practices and resources that all can employ. To that end, the award recognizes schools, districts, and IHEs that:

  1. Reduce environmental impact and costs;
  2. Improve the health and wellness of schools, students, and staff; and
  3. Provide environmental education, which teaches many disciplines, and is especially good at effectively incorporating STEM, civic skills, and green career pathways.
