Mrs. Frank's Bio

Teresa Franks has a B.L.S. from the University of Memphis and an M.A.T. from Christian Brothers University.  After 19 years in corporate training and development, Teresa pivoted to pursue her passion of reading education.  She earned several certifications as a reading specialist, including International Dyslexia Association’s Certified Dyslexia Therapist and Certified Academic Language Therapist from ALTA.

Teresa is from Memphis, Tennessee.  There, she taught at Bodine School, a school for gifted students with dyslexia.  She and her husband, Howard, an art professor at UNO, moved to Omaha in 2016.  For the last two years, Mrs. Franks has been a Reading Teacher at R.M. Marrs Middle School.  She has been recognized for her integration of technology with curriculum, including piloting Minecraft in Education for OPS.  She also helped coach OPS’s 2018 Midwest Regional Spelling Bee champion for her National Spelling Bee debut, and led several student clubs and faculty committees.

Teresa and her husband enjoy eating, traveling, reading, viewing art, and listening to live music. Teresa is involved in her neighborhood association and several volunteer organizations.

Mrs. Franks is tremendously excited to begin teaching 6th grade at Wilson Focus School this year.  She looks forward to encouraging, inspiring, and helping her students strive for their limitless futures.
